InFarmatik News Letter Nov-Dec 2008
InFarmatik recently appointed Dénes Kónya, PhD, to the position of Director of Chemistry. Dr. Kónya whose last position was with AMRI Hungary as their Site Manager and Synthesis Group Leader, has extensive experience in combichem library synthesis and custom chemistry project/FTE management.
Michael Bossert was recently promoted to the position of Sales Director for Europe, Asia & Pacific. InFarmatik is exploring a partnership with Development Chemicals Ltd, a UK/US-based process development company that collaborates with production companies in Asia to provide low cost manufacturing solutions.
InFarmatik has expanded our drug discovery research services by forming strategic alliances with related and complementary drug discovery service providers Targetex Biosciences, a Hungarian protein expression and HT screening company and PharmaHungary, a preclinical and clinical pharmacology service provider. (The collaboration is based on InFarmatik’s successful MMP inhibitor consortium model. For further details, see www.mmpharma.com).
InFarmatik has released 39 novel products (building blocks, biologically active substances and their intermediates)
| Boc protected scaffolds |
 |
We have added two selectively protected alpha-amino-nitriles (GL -1283, GL -1284), and a Boc protected quinoxaline (GL-1289) in cluster #5. |
| Non aromatic "terpene like"-compounds and their derivatives |
 |
6 new compounds were added to this cluster (#72). In their pharmaceutical use we consider them as terpene type compounds. 3 alcohols (GL-1286, GL-1287 and GL-1288), one keton (GL-1267), one amine (GL-1285) and one oxime (GL-1295) broaden our portfolio. |
| Pyrazine derivatives |
 |
8 additional compounds are among our pyrazine compounds (Cluster #13). The 7 unique orto disubstituted carboxylic acid (GL1274->1280) and an ?-Bromo derivative (GL-1293) give further possibilities to derivatize this class of compounds as a versatile scaffold. |
| Amino-nitriles |
 |
Cluster #3 is richer now with an additional 5 compound: GL-1266, GL-1268, GL-1269, GL-1272 and GL-1273. |
| Target Focused Compounds and Other Structure of Interest |

 |
We have synthesized 6 novel products with likely anti-microbial activity (GL-1259->1262, GL-1265, GL-1294), two cyclohexyl carboxylic acid derivative (GL-1270, GL-1271), two pirimidino-triazol fused ring system (GL-1281, GL-1282). A new pyrazole carboxylic acid (GL-1292, Cluster #14), a triptamine (GL-1290, Cluster #20), an Ethyl-hydroxylamine (GL-1263, Cluster #26), an indolylbutylamine (GL-1259, Cluster #28), a thiadiazole (GL-1297, Cluster #42), an amino-mercapto-triazol (GL-1296, Cluster #71) and finally a new retrohydroxamate (GL-1264, Cluster #75) are to be found at us. |
